Well I threw together a spreadsheet comparing all warlock sets with the main 5 pieces, and what not and decided to post it here....pretty ridiculous how progression goes via gear between Tier 4 and Tier 5....
tinyurl.com/ykwvpnAs you can see there is a nice progression, and than a sudden halt between tiers 4 and 5. You'd think it would continue to progress but no.... For socketing, lets see the min/maxing you can do!
GEMS FOR CASTERS ( My opinions ):

Tier 4's Optimization Possibilites:Maximizing +dmg:
55 dmg ( Side effect +13 SCR, +6 stam )
Maximizing SCR:
+49 SCR [ 2.21% ]( Side effect +16 dmg, +3 stam )
Little bit of Column A and Column B:
+38 dmg + 25 SCR [ 1.13% ] ( +3 stam )
OR
+33 dmg +37 SCR [ 1.67% ] ( +6 stam )
Tier 5's Optimization Possibilities:Maximizing +dmg:
51 dmg ( Side effect 17 SCR, +6 stam )
Maximizing SCR:
56 SCR ( Side effect +5 dmg, +3 stam )
Little bit of Column A and Column B:
38 +dmg +25 SCR [ 1.13% ] ( +3stam )
OR
+29 dmg +41 SCR [ 1.85% ] ( +6 stam )
Thus Tier 4 comes out to a grand total of:
180 +dmg [ MAX 235 | MIN 196 | AVG 215 ]
54 +SCR [ MAX 103 | MIN 67 | AVG 84 ]
[ 2.4% ] ([ MAX 4.66% | MIN 3.03% | AVG 3.8% ])
Thus Tier 5 comes out to a total of:
197 +dmg [ MAX 248 | MIN 202 | AVG 231 ]
95 +SCR [ MAX 151 | MIN 112 | AVG 128 ]
[ 4.29% ] ([MAX 6.83% | MIN 5.06% | AVG 5.79% ])
Hmmm, so in the end it seems you can come out with better +dmg and +Crit through optimization. Although, it does seem to be hard to achieve a size-able amount of difference between the two sets.
